Tigers win SWAC baseball championship


After a season of ups and downs, the Texas Southern University Baseball team won the 2008 SWAC Baseball Championship.

TSU faced defending SWAC Champion, Prairie View A&M in the championship game. Having played PV six times during the long season, and loosing five of those games, TSU had a score to settle.

TSU won seven conference games during the regular season and went on a mission, going 4-0 in the conference tournament that was held in Baton Rouge, La..

Several notable players were honored. Adam Sellers was named the tournament's most valuable player. Jordan Bush, Justin Holloway and senior pitcher Rashad Ford were named to the All-Tournament team and Head Coach Candy Robinson was named SWAC Coach of the Year.

Long time assistant Coach is Brian White. The Tigers last won the conference title in Houston in 2004.
