It seems like every student asks the same question at the beginning of a semester, "Where is ______________?"(You fill in the blanks). The answer is always the same, "She/he got into some trouble this summer and is not coming back."
It is a known fact that if a student gets arrested for any drug charge he or she will lose all funding from the government; financial aid, loans, scholarships, the whole sha-banga-bang. What will a student do after that? I am not trying to preach to anyone; you all are grown.
If you are going to school or work, or do both this summer, do your thing. This is really for the students and my classmates who will be going home. Do not get into any trouble, and by all means, make the best judgment for your future. I know I am not talking to angels, but I am asking that you be smart. Do not become a statistic this summer. There is no need for us to see you on the evening news being taken away in a police car. Don't let your head turn petrified to cause your rear to be Charmin soft.
My prayers are still with the Pearson family. Alexis was a true and real friend, she will be missed.
This year was incredibly interesting, as well as rewarding. As a member of the University's marching band, the Ocean of Soul I was able to participate in the 1st annual Battle of the Bands against Prairie View and the Honda Battle of the Bands in Atlanta.
We are proud to have President, Dr. Rudley and look forward to the direction in which he intends to lead us. When he arrived here, his presence was felt and it was felt hard. He cleaned house by starting with the coaching staff as well relieving Mr. Blackwell from athletic director.
To the organizers of football week; that was the best week that the students have ever been a part of here at Texas Southern. We can't wait for you to get us to Birmingham and win SWAC.
I would like to congratulate all the individuals who became members of their respected fraternity or sorority. Become a successful individual of that organization, not a statistic.
