We're baaacccckkk!!! And we are better than ever. Look out for the Herald staff this semester because we aren't taking any prisoners. We hope everyone had a great semester break, and is ready to finish the year off with a bang.
Now that we have all gotten over the fact that we either did or didn't do what we needed to do in the fall, it's time to set our eyes on running the race until May when we can say that another year has finally come and gone.
The Christmas break was a pivotal one for TSU, and as you will read throughout this issue of the Herald, a number of changes occurred that will change the course of TSU forever. A new president, new resources, and new questions about the stability of our university are all variables that hold our university in the balance.
With new leadership at the helm of the university, we should expect to see more growth in not only the university infrastructure, but also the quality of our education as well. The leadership is confident that they will develop a plan that will ensure that the university remains independent and fully accredited as it is today.
Many have left the university for fear that the it might capsize, but the Herald staff applauds all of you who have decided to remain on board here at our illustrious university. We suggest that you do as we have done throughout the year, strive through the adversity.
The only way the university will fail is if we completely stop paying our tuition, stop achieving in and outside of the classroom, and stop having faith in our university. Had it not been for TSU many us would not have had the opportunity to ever go to a university. For others, TSU has taken the financial burden off of you so that you won't have to spend eighteen years paying off student loans after you graduate. So make sure that you and your friends are doing the things that will help the university to shine. Get involved, go to class, and have fun while doing it.
Those of you who missed the fall graduation, missed the chance to see someone walk across the stage who has done that every since she stepped foot on this campus. Our SGA president not only graduated, but she accomplished almost every goal that she set out to accomplish and had fun doing it. (The pictures are on facebook to prove it. Well not all of them.) Not only was she able to accomplish those things but she tried to be the best in everything that she did, and still gave back to the university.
These things are not outside of our reach. We must all strive to be the best in all that we do so that our university can grow stronger and provide us in the future what we need it from it.
The Herald is going to do its part as well. Actually anything that we publish this year will be one step better than we were before. During the break we also made a number of changes as well. We developed two websites www.tsuherald.com and www.tsu.edu/theherald. Visit each one frequently as we will be making changes to the site as frequently as possible. We are also available on the facebook.com. Check out our profile "Herald Newspaper" and interact with us.
You will see the Herald this semester. Make no questions about it. This semester we are more determined than ever before to bring you the news you want to hear, more accurately, more appealing and more timely. We will continue to not do things as they have been done in the past, and will blaze new trails for others to follow. We have a number of surprises for you this year so keep reading, we would hate for you to miss out.
You all really don't understand how hard this job is. Especially when you are trying to climb up from the bottom of a hole and everything seems to be falling around you. A lot of people say that we should be a daily newspaper, like U of H and other and the University of Texas, which is a great goal to work toward, but we can't do so without your help.
If you would like to work with the Herald this semester, we are always looking for another writer, another photographer, and another graphic artist. We're looking for people who just want to give back to their university, who love being in the know, and who are dedicated to giving their support. You might even be eligible to receive extra credit or bonus points for working with the Herald.
For more information you can contact at us on facebook.com, www.tsuherald.com, www.tsu.edu/theherald, herald@tsu.edu, or you can call us at 713.313.7315.
